Who is your favourite EVITA?
 May 15 2012, 12:29:06 AM
Julie Covington. She may not have the best voice, but she sings everything with such emotion, yet manages to be ice cold at the same time. The "white" album also has my favorite version of "Eva Beware of the City."

Never cared for Patti Lupone. She just seems to belt everything, without subtlety, and is often difficult to understand.

Now find Eponine's straight-cut, hang-over-your-eyes bangs that stick out from under her hat. That one will be much harder.

I'll give it a try, best12bars. By Hugo's description, she seems pretty nontraditionally dressed anyway. What is weird, though, is I don't remember Barks having bangs in the 25th Anniversary production. Why would they make her get them now?

Of course the real mystery is whether Javert's Van Dyke/goatee -- seen in his rehearsal scenes at least -- is true to the period.

I think this answers the question of whether Eddie's flip is period accurate (see the left photo).

It can't change for the movie? I don't think it's a cement flip.

I think that's the only way to style Eddie's hair so that he looks attractive. He has one of those unique faces where the slightest thing can make him go from attractive to hideous. I think if they flattened and combed over his front too much, he would look significantly worse.

LES MIZ lyric question
 Mar 22 2012, 10:58:59 PM
I always thought it was strange that certain lines in the "Prologue: Work Song" didn't rhyme. Such as:

You are a thief!
I stole a loaf of bread!
You robbed a house!
I broke a window pane.

At that point in the song, I would have expected the fourth line to rhyme with the first or second line.

New Poll: Which LES MIS Character Do You Think Deserves Another Song in the Film?

"Nothing beats the bastardization of "Don Juan" as sung by many a Grantaire with an English "j" sound."

In all fairness, that's how Lord Byron (who wrote the Don Juan character) pronounced it.

Also, I think it's pronounced that way in parts of Spain.
