In my opinion, I believe that this novel was a touching memoir of the author's take on the situation. Back in 2002, I lost my mother to a lengthy battle against ulcerative colitis- a battle that began with stomachaches and ended in an Intensive Care Unit in Buffalo, NY, speaking through tears with my family and the doctors about where her organs would go.
