The version of Contact that I saw took away from the orgy idea and showed the couples. It was like they were trying to make it clearer to the audience what was going on (makes sense because I'm pretty sure most of the audience didn't know much about theatre or techniques). I really liked it because it showed the problems that the characters face, like Maureen and Joanne fighting for control and Mimi choosing pain (S&M) over letting herself feel anything real. I wish they had used it. Ins

There was a production in the UK a couple of years ago that used footage projected on the wall in other scenes. It wasn't a live feed but they had filmed a riot that they played at the end of "LVB B" as if it was from Mark's camera. They also had footage for "Without You".
I didn't see the show at the time (I don't even know if it was legit) but I've seen videos and it was the best production of RENT that I have ever seen. They also filmed scenes for "Contact" but they didn't us
