If you read the interview Kad linked, Peppermint explains how her trans identity intertwines with being a drag queen. But typically, it's not great to question someone's presentation and the terminology they use. They know their own identity better than you do.

It just struck me as a very odd and random choice for a jukebox musical. I mean, the group was important and popular in their day, but to fill a whole 2-hour production with their music? The biggest differences I noticed were that she was more in awe of the world as she saw new things (as Philoclea is very sheltered), but also much sassier, especially in act one towards Pamela (her facial expressions before "Beautiful" really stood out to me).

The actor playing Bustopher Jones in Cats also plays Gus the Theatre Cat (and a chorus cat sometimes called Peter in the beginning). On Broadway, the Rum Tum Tugger actor is a chorus cat called Bill Bailey and Old Deuteronomy is Victor.

I have to question the legitimacy of that accusation. I saw the show a number of times during her run and she was one every single time.

It's true, Ricky very rarely misses a show. I think he gets a lot of rest and takes care of himself. Gina has been out a lot recently for injuries (she also took the weekend off to do a production of The Nutcracker), but other than that she's usually on as well. She especially is a trooper.&
