Posted: 11/24/06 at 12:48pmYou think if I get to the city at 4, I'd have a chance at getting a handful of on stage or rush tickets for tonight?

What is the onstage seating like? Where exactly are you?
I haven't seen the show yet, so I have a difficult time imagining exactly how that works. It sounds like a unique experience, though.

Posted: 11/25/06 at 2:10pmI sat onstage at Thursday's performance and I had a great view. There are rows on each side of the stage (two rows on stage left and three rows on stage right); the seats are facing in towards the stage and the back rows are elevated so your view won't be blocked by the peoples' heads in front of you. I was in the front row in the seat closest to the audience. There are a few points in the show where you're looking at some of the actor's backs (Totally F*cked is the worst), but it wasn't bad at all. I highly recommend sitting onstage; it's a really cool experience. I can't give advice on how difficult it is to get onstage tickets the day of the performance, because I got mine ahead of time.

Yes, you do see the performers backs for some parts (as well as Groff's backside if you're stage right, Lea's chest if you're stage left), but you don't realize it. They're ideal for this show as sitting anywhere else in the theater (I feel) is detremental to the nature of the show. The intimacy of being amongst the actors (they sit next to you in many cases and at many points during the show) is unparalleled with anything I've ever experienced in theater.
It's not hard to get on stage tickets. I'm sure morning of would be fine.

Posted: 11/26/06 at 1:21amQuick question... I want to see the Saturday matinee and probably won't get into the city until like 12:30... would I be able to get rush or on-stage seats at that time still? On their site it says a limited number of tickets but I don't know how competitive their rush is.... Thanks!

Thanks! I'm excited to see it... I'm so used to crazy Jersey Boys rush that I worry about how hard it is to rush other shows

I have heard that this weekend's performances are being heavily papered to help spread word of mouth. Anyone able to take advantage of this?
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

Posted: 11/26/06 at 2:47amThe show is incredible! I'm sure that you wouldn't have trouble getting rush seats. I got rush the other day and they were row C, front mezzanine. Excellent seats.... AMAZING show!

Posted: 11/29/06 at 12:57pmNot sure about that but I will say this. Spring Awakening is very cool! I loved it and I'm 50 years old. I don't know why they keep saying older people might not like this.

Posted: 11/29/06 at 2:46pmI don't think I've got the courage to do the stage seats, but we've got Center Orchestra, Row A - dead center - for a couple Saturday nights from now... anything "hard to see" by being "too close?"

For those of your who have sat on the stage, how did you find the sound in relation to being so close to the band? Could you make out the words? I assume the closer you get to the band the more difficult it is to hear.

Posted: 11/29/06 at 3:48pmI advocate sitting on stage - it was a 100% enjoyable experience. If I ever see the show again, it will only be on the stage. It's a 7 piece band that is situated upstage center, though, of course, it takes the entire upstage area, besides the 2 cast doorways. The sound is great, not perfect, and you can hear most of the lyrics, though not all.

Posted: 11/29/06 at 4:30pmHonestly, seeing it for my first time in the onstage seats was not as enjoyable as I thought. I was the furthest back on stage right, and it was difficult to figure out what they were singing/saying at some points, and I missed most facial expressions because their backs were towards me almost the entire time. I loved the show, but I think that onstage seats should be reserved for the second (or fifth!) time around.

I saw it a week ago and really loved the rush seats in the box.
I would be wary to sit on stage, a lot of the acting is played out to the house, and i feel you would miss a lot on the stage, but hey, i haven't done it so i can't talk.
Honestly the best seats are the first two or three rows, i think. of course, they're 100 bucks, but hey.
