tami tappan CD...BUH-rilliant!

To anyone looking for a great stocking stuffer, I highly recommend Tami Tappan Damiano's new CD "Hot Notes". I have been searching for this CD for almost a year since hearing an advanced track at a friend's house and I am absolutely blown away by the whole thing. The versatility in her singing and in her choice of selections is just astoundingly gorgeous to listen to. Her voice can be light and pure of tone but then turns around and belts to the rafters, not to mention her great jazz and standards style. Just stunning.

I remember seeing her as 'ellen' in SAIGON and when she went on for 'roxanne' when she was covering in CYRANO and have since considered myself a huge fan. The woman, besides having style for days has- no break. NO vocal break whatsoever and listening to this CD is an awe inspiring experience especially for singers and for those who long for the days when vocalists interpereted their lyrics and somehow seem to reach out through the songs to grab you emotionally.

Anyway- all this time i have been looking for tami's CD under her maiden name by mistake- and finally found it under her married name (damiano) at the BCEFA site. In case any of you have been doing the same- here's the link for those who wish to buy it:

I've only seen her in Miss Saigon, but this sounds very interesting. Even if my sister (12 at the time) said she had "a vibrato like a seagull," I liked her. :)

I am arguably Tami's biggest fan in Los Angeles. Saw her last night in The Grand Tour (the 5th or 6th thing I've seen her in this year) and she gave as perfect a performance as ever. Her breathtaking star-turn in Andrew Lippa's The Wild Party inspired me to start a thread here just to say how sensational a performance she gave.

She's also one of the loveliest performers we have. I told her last night that her being here in L.A. is the best reason for me not to have to move to New York!
And Hot Notes is every bit as good as you say!
Her next big gig will be in February starring opposite David Engel in Never Gonna Dance (in Long Beach).

Tami's incredibly talented! Saw her in several things this year - "My Way" at La Mirada, "Guys & Dolls" at Musical Theatre West, and finally "The Grand Tour" at the Colony. I've become quite an admirer of her talent!

For Wicked fans out there, Tami sang Popular to the lovely Kim Huber (as Elphaba) at the Reprise under-the-stars concert this summer and anyone who saw her can only hope that she will get to play Galinda somewhere someday. She nailed every delightful moment of the song!
By the way, her husband Chris Damiano was sensational in a play called Two Gentlemen of Corona this summer. They have an adorable one year old named Dante.

Anyone else who wants to add something nice about Tami, feel free to post it here and I'll deliver it personally to her next Friday after The Grand Tour. I'm sure she'll be thrilled that so many people on both coasts (and in Hawaii) are in love with her talent.

Tami is absolutely fabulous. I can't wait to see her starring (with David Engle) in the West Coast premiere of "Never Gonna Dance". She is perfect for the part.

Tiny, I finally got to deliver the printout of this thread to Tami tonight, after her (as always) excellent performance in City of Angels. We spoke for maybe five minutes, and she is truly as lovely as everyone has said about her. I'm sure that she will enjoy reading everyone's glowing remarks about her!

Tami Tappan Damiano and David Engle will be starring in SWING! at La Mirada 3/13-4/16.

It's a fun swing revue that features such songs as "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy," "Jumpin' At The Woodside," "Stompin' At The Savoy," "It Don't Mean A Thing If You Ain't Got That Swing," and "Sing, Sing, Sing".

If you've never seen David and Tami together..you're in for a treat....
