CANNES -- James D. Stern and Adam Del Deo are bringing a documentary about the iconic Broadway musical "A Chorus Line" to the big screen.
The pair, whose previous documentaries include "The Year of the Yao" for Fine Line Features/New Line International and "So Goes the Nation" for IFC Films/the Weinstein Co., will direct and produce "Every Little Step: The Journey of a Chorus Line." Stern's Endgame Entertainment will produce and finance the film, which chronicles the making of the current Broadway revival of the megahit musical.

It seems you have nothing better to do then point out i made a spelling mistake, did it make you feel better?

Well Munk it seems to be a case of how the word is spelt depends on where you come from...
So next time before you big note yourself ( ONLY FOR YOUR OWN SELF IMAGE ) maybe you should learn about other cultures.
The Australia way of shortning the word documentary, is doco and since i am an Australian, i was correct..
Once again i hope it made you feel better about yourself, but all it proved to do was to make you look like an idoit.

Posted: 5/21/07 at 10:01pmMunk's question wasn't rude...in America here, we don't use "doco." He was asking a simple question. No need to bring in issues about self-image and being ignorant of other cultures.

Seriously, I wasn't trying to be rude.
And the reason I ASKED (rather than TOLD) you about the spelling was because I assumed perhaps "Doco" is an accepted term in Australia.
I already assumed that. Which is why I ASKED.

Oh boy, in what universe is there any call for a documentary about this production?

"A Chorus Line" was built in an organic way in the early '70s, where artists would sit around in a semicircle at midnight," said Stern. "There's now a whole new way of doing business on Broadway. Our film is also about the way entrepreneurs have been replaced by corporations in America."
Sounds like they have no idea what they want this film to be about. Is it about the creative force that made "A Chorus Line" and its history or is it about the current business practices on Broadway?

Oy!
If only this documentary was filmed back in 1976, focusing on the ORIGINAL Broadway production.
Anyone who has read any of the many books about the creation of the original 1975 Broadway production will know how much material can be covered on that production alone. The original tape sessions; the original workshops; the original run at the Newman Theatre, etc.
Who gives a rat's ass about this 'revival'? Unless, of course, this documentary has a strong emphasis on the creation of the original production.

Posted: 5/22/07 at 4:59pmI wonder to what extent they will discuss the original creative process. No offense to the Revival, but I'm more interested in the lives of the people whose stories became "A Chorus Line." I would love to hear some of the tapes during those interview sessions, and see how different stories were combined into one character.

According to the release it will include some vintage footage of the 1975 original:
"The film will cull behind-the-scenes footage of the audition, rehearsals and performances of the 1975 original and the 2006 revival..."

That's interesting as I know those audiotapes are under lock and key by the Bennett estate. THOSE are what I'd really like to hear. I cretainly hope they interviewed Tony Stevens and Michon Peacock as they were there at the genesis of it all as well.
And I agree, that the original production holds much more interest and intrigue than this revival cast.
