Today is Thursday, November 11, marking the official opening night of The Pee-wee Herman Show on Broadway, starring Paul Reubens as Pee-wee, at the newly rechristened Stephen Sondheim Theatre. Following a preview period that began October 26, the production is slated to play throughJanuary 2, 2011. Alex Timbers (of BBAJ) directs.
The show, according to production notes, "reunites the one-and-only Pee-wee Herman (Paul Reubens) with many of the original Playhouse cast of characters — including Miss Yvonne, Cowboy Curtis, Pterri the Pterodactyl, Jambi the Genie, and Chairry — for an all new celebration of sophisticated silliness. An eye-popping 90 minutes of subversive humor and childlike wonder, The Pee-wee Herman Show charts a day in the life of our bow-tied hero, one of the most inspired comic personas of our time."
BREAK A LEG PEE WEE! I could not resist and finally got ticket (M1-orchestra) for the December 11th matinee. Have a feeling the reviews are going to glow. Pee Wee deserves a break!
