Anyone know how that works? Who comes out usually? And where is it?

It is insane. Right next to the Imperial Theater (Nice Work). All the principals came on the second preview I went, but it is PACKED. Like 6 people deep and filled with screaming tweens. But the cast is super nice so if you fight the crowds they will sign.

I went on Good Friday and it wasn't super crowded with no screaming teens. It was somewhat crowded, but not six rows deep. I'm not sure if it has gotten better/worse since. Also every principal came out signed, posted for pictures, etc...
I haven't stagedoored Pippin, but I witnessed it leaving a different show. Part of the madness is due to the fact that Orphans is on the opposite block and people are still trying to scope out Alec Baldwin when Pippin lets out, and Nice Work lets out around the same time so the crowd exiting the Imperial is in the same place as the crowd waiting for stage door at the Music Box. It's more of a crowd control issue than there being way too many people specifically there for stage door.

After 3/30 evening performance, the stage door wasn't too crazy. Maybe 2-3 people deep. All the principals came out and signed/took pictures.
What's the fastest way out there?(From the mezz) Is there anybody who comes out quickly or anyone who takes a while?
Where is it? Is it on the side that the electronic marquee or is it on the other side of the theatre?

As you are exiting the front doors of the theatre, make a right - the stage door will say "Music Box Stage Door" or something like that. When I was there, no one came out immediately....first person took about 5 minutes. Matthew came out fairly quickly.
I went on Sunday and it was nearly empty. It took a little bit for the first few people to come out, and the first major person was the kid who played Theo. Then a few ensemble members, and then Rachel Bay Jones. But a little while after that, Charlottle and Terrence came out together, but they did not stop to sign/take pictures. They had their little daughters with themand oblivously wanted to go home. Matthew came out a little while later, and if anyone else came out while he was out, I didn't notice because...well... Matthew!!!! He had to go back inside after (probably to ***Spolier (get his dog Porridge)*****) and Patina Miller came out last. After she got in her car, securrity shooed everyone away and put the barricades away. I asked the guy two questions: 1) Andrea? And he said no. 2) If I send something to the theatre, will Terrence, Charlotte and Andrea sign it? And he just shrugged. But evryone who came out was sweet, nice and willing to talk, take pictures and answer questions.
I saw the matinee on the 30th and Matthew, Terrence, Rachel and the kid who plays Theo were the only principals who came out. Not too surprising on a two show day.
They had the barricade extending a little past the stage door and most people coming out only went the other way, so that can be avoided
If you mail a self-address stamped enveloped to Charlotte D'Amboise (or probably any other cast member of Pippin for that matter) she will sign it. I sent one to her when she was doing "Chicago" and I did receive her autograph a couple of weeks later. So, it's worth a try. from RC in Austin, Texas
Yes, I have done that with Newsies, but you run the risk of it getting lost in the mail or not back to you at all. (For example, I have a poster from the orignal production of Carrie that I wanted Charlotte to sign, but I would never run the risk of not getting it back. But if you just want an autograph on a piece of paper or an extra Playbill or you are willing to risk it, then go for it.
Also, if for whatever reason Matthew doesn't come out, there is usually a very sweet apology tweet within a few hours of the show he didn't come out after. I believe there were two or three times during Spider Man and once after Pippin a couple weeks ago.
