So I'm a bit of a broadway newbie, so I apologize if this is a dumb question but... Is there a stage door at a broadway preview show? Are there playbills at this kind of show? And I know this answer varies from show to show, but for a show like Les Mis, where the cast is pretty familiar with the show, is it worthwhile to see the preview?
Yes to all of the things. It is the same as any other time you go to a Broadway show. It is just before the critics have come and they may be making changes. But yes, there are playbills and the actors may stage door.
I'd agree with the above, but I'd like to add a comment to the last question regarding "knowing" a show. Even though a show may be a revival and the cast may - or may not - be familiar with previous production(s), if the show is in previews, it is usually because its a new production. This often means a new interpretation of the work and the assumption that the cast "knows" the work is misleading.
I might still choose to attend a preview, but I wouldn't assume that the production is "frozen" and/or ready for the critics.
