Has anyone else heard this album? The back cover says it was performed at the York Theatre Company in 1982, but I couldn't find any information about any other subsequent productions or further development, which is too bad because I really like some of the songs. You can find some more information here
I saw it and the music was gorgeous, the lyrics a little awkward and the book even more so. Richardson was a highly underrated composer as The Grass Harp proves.
I very much agree about the lyrics being clunky in places. There's one in the opening song about being like a bishop slapping "mosqiters" that drives me crazy! The music is consistently lovely though, and the arrangements are also lovely.
I also love THE GRASS HARP, but had never realized LOLA was composed by the same person.
