Hello, I am looking for feedback from anyone who has seen Hamilton re: the scenes with Maria Reynolds and Alexander. I would like to bring my 12 year old son but I am not sure about linking a visual with the recording we have been listening to non-stop. He understands the "concept" of what has occurred but I don't think he needs a graphic image to relate it to.....
Any info appreciated.
Thanks
It is not graphic whatsoever. There is a couple of seconds of kissing, a couple of seconds of light groping. Really not "inappropriate" by any means.

It's not graphic at all. He could probably see worse things in PG movies.

Took my 12 year old daughter to see this last August. Nothing in the show was inappropriate. She loved the show!

Yes, it's appropriate. The lyrics make it sound worse than it is portrayed. The most that happens is that they kiss and she sits on his lap.
The kids have got to learn about it sometime. Better they learn about it at Hamilton than on the street.

Well said. Also, I'll agree that it's rather tame.
It's absolutely fine - very tame and tasteful. I agree with the previous poster that it probably sounds like something more intense on the recording - but it is truly a non-issue. Lin has said over and over again that one of his hopes was that this show would go on to be done in high schools, etc - so I think he went out of his way to make it as kid-safe as he could. Hope you enjoy it!
the lyric about legs spreading made me think it would be inappropriate, but she doesn't even spread them.
I just saw this again on Weds, I thought I remembered it BEING more graphic in previews.....can anyone verify that....or am I just allowing the recording to sway my memory?

dramamama - I'd say it's less graphic than you might be remembering but slightly more so than people are making it out to be.
If I recall they make out heavily twice, and she sits on his lap and he kind of gropes her breast? That being said, I still don't think it's wildly inappropriate, definitely less than what I'd seen at age 12 and definitely something you could see in a PG13 movie. Definitely no scenes with Hamilton on top of her or anything.
There will be parents (perhaps those who are cheating on their spouses) who will not want their kid to be made aware of that concept. It is notoriously hard to advise others about what their kids should see. And sometimes it is the kid who does not want to see things of this sort in the company of their parents.

She still does the Sharon Stone leg cross, right?
