Re: BLACK SWAN and WONDER world premiere musicals and more set for American Repertory Theatre

Jul 20, 2026 — 6:32:54 AM

I think it NEEDS more time, and revision. The potential is there, but if it tries NY w/o one? I think the critics will be rather negative. And it would sad for a show that, imo, is so close to being terrific to stop before that is realized. I am optimistic for the show...just hoping some theater owner doesn't convince them to go in too early.

Not at all. Nathan Lane certainly isn't smiling, also: combined with the upper pix, how could you?

Post-Tony Thoughts

I would say 13 -25 IS their prime audience, so Im surprised YOU'RE surprised. After that, most move on - as the new cast members and the humor changes. Im so old that I'll die on the hill the the original cast was the absolute best cast to exist. I think I've watched it MAYBE 3 times in the last 15 years - (Strictly because of the host) and that might be generous.I truly don't get his appeal - to each his own.

Broadway's Best Kept Secrets - Passion + Paddington

Jun 12, 2026 — 2:02:15 PM

Neither of these tidbits are secrets nor terribly new. And one is all but officially confirmed, the other just a rumor. Might it be true? Sure. As to Groff's interest. Who should have guessed that Just in Time would be Groff's fan base's interest? I really thought it might flop. I don't think he chooses his projects based on his fans at all. He chooses what interests him.

Why I Prefer The Jimmys Over The Tonys

Jun 12, 2026 — 1:48:27 PM

Apples and oranges. I don't really see the comparison. Personally, I really don't see the appeal of them. But I also don't enjoy any competition shows that involve kids - to me they are just an extension of pageants. (No judgement on those that enjoy them.

Where Did Las Vegas Go Wron

Jun 12, 2026 — 1:45:48 PM

People go to NY for Broadway (and other things) People go to Vegas to gamble and spend time in the land of excess. They aren't the same. If I want to see theater (in the US) I'm going to NYC, sure, I MIGHT catch a show somewhere else - but that's not my priority anywhere else.

[title of show] returning…

This wasnt successful on Bway at all. Ran just over 3 months, 115 performances (including previews) I thought it was adorable, but it is very niche.

Two questions regarding Cynthia Erivo

The weird thing is: a few days ago the statement came out (maybe also SO?) that Fosca was a dream role of hers - and my head cast Groff. (I don't want this to be true, because SO)

But he argued when a woman told him he was out of line, but agreed when a man did. Go figure. (Assuming gender roles based on board names only.)
