never seen a thread on this, so i figured i would start one.  The greeter was a very nice and well informed girl (someone came in and asked if this is where the Hamilton lottery took place and she DIDNT laugh at her).  The woman operating the machine didn't seem to know what she was doing (there was an entry that fell out onto the table that she didn't notice until someone pointed it out.  When she went to spin, more fell out the bottom).   There was a decent amount of entries, but the greater mentioned the crowd was larger than usual.  Capacity is 227 but most of those went to Today Tix

16pairs (mine were first!!!)

2 singles (if you put down for two tickets, they would be separate seats)

Seat numbers printed on tickets

interestingly, they did not check IDs of the winners and gave you tickets right away (could totally sell them on Stubhub)

FYI my friend bailed so I have an extra ticket for tonight

I assume you're talking about Dry Powder? You didn't mention what show anywhere in your post.

Today was unusually large because it's a high profile show that's already sold out. It wasn't quite the level of Hamilton but it was big. The guy who usually does the drawing wasn't there for some reason and the older woman spinning the machine didn't really know what she was doing. I think she forgot to put tape over the opening so entries couldn't fall out.

I'm not totally sure of the reasoning behind this thread but if you wanted to give someone your extra ticket it would have been better to make a thread about that specifically. Or just give it to this sciencegirl person.

Does the public do a lottery prior to every performance? Or just the first free previews thing?

Just first free previews. There might be others depending on the show but not always.

Meh that's what I thought. Thanks for clearing that up for me. I'm assuming there won't be lottery since it's sold out

They're doing a $20 lottery through TodayTix for DRY POWDER during the run but I don't know how many tickets that will be per performance.

My alternative is standby which they do single tickets for.  So - what do you think are the chances of standby tonight if I get there at 5:30?  Done rush at Public, never standby....

If the woman wasn't familiar with the machine, someone should have helped her.  It wasn't a major criticism, just an obsevation that it didn't look professional

The reasoning behind this thread was to provide information such as the number of tickets being given out (i was thinking about it last night, and wanted to share information that I thought would be helpful to others).  last time I did that (for a face value Hamilton during previews), I was bombarded with PMs (only got two this way)

I also won a pair this morning. My plus one cancelled so if anyone wants my second ticket, hit me up.

Pardon me for going off on a bit of a rant here but it's something that I think needs to be addressed. There is a guy in a wheelchair who has been at the last three first previews. Due to his being in a wheelchair he sits front row. Now I have no qualms with him but I do with his guests. First the guy he brought with him to HUNGRY continuously fell asleep. But last night while at DRY POWDER his guest was on his phone and texting literally the ENTIRE SHOW. This is a major problem when a show is performed in a round and a third of the audience is looking in your direction. It's also a problem because the way the play is staged most of the actors were standing right in front of him and looking in his direction quite frequently. The woman sitting next to him kept looking over but never said anything. I think when shows are staged like this the ushers need to be much more diligent in noticing a problem audience member and ejecting them from the theatre.
