I suffered through this last night and absolutely hated it. The set “design” was laughable. Each scene had one thing on the stage at a time. At one point people were playing cards just standing around making it seem like they couldn’t afford a table with chairs. Some of the worst acting I’ve ever seen on a stage. It's pretty crazy how this is selling just in pre-sale especially at these prices. While tickets do start at $59 there don't seem to have been any of those left an hour into pre-sale. I randomly saw this last night via 20at20 and didn't even realize it was the opening. Nothing about it gave off opening vibes, especially the half empty theatre. This was a bigger disappointment than I was expecting. Not one good once in the bunch. There was an updated song list paper in the Playbill showing they've apparently cut the opening number and I can't imagine how bad it had to be if they're keeping in the rest of...that. Can someone explain to me the corn shucking joke? I don't think it's a reference to the movie because I don't remember Annie and Meredith with corn. Nor do I think it's a reference to Shucked. That's really the only thing that I didn't get (and it went on for awhile),

I would highly recommend staying away from this even if free (which I'm sure no one is paying money to see it). As other people have said, the writing is awful no matter how talented the actors are and how they try to elevate it. I must admit that I left after the Mommy scene because it was so cloying and aggressively straight, especially when following the Tony Danza one. I just received an email from Show-Score that they're discontinuing their Member Nights (basically comp tickets given so members can review shows) and paid memberships effective immediately.I'm guessing this has something to do with the fact that TodayTix acquired them so they're looking to sell tickets for actual money instead of a reservation fee.
