So...
I have seen Wicked 3 times prior. Twice with Idina and once with Shoshana. All three times were amazing! Idina was the original and therefore had a certain magic about her. Not to mention a loud brassy set of pipes. Shoshana was loud, belty, and poppy, which I also loved! She def. had the coolest twist on Elphaba. I am pleased to say that I can add Ms. Eden Espinosa to my list! This girl can do it all! Her acting was dead on, and her voice...there are no words. Her Defying Gravity brought down the Gershwin, as did her No Good Deed. The best rendition I have ever heard. The entire cast was dead on tonight. Kate Reinders got entrance applause, which i was very happy to see. She has such a pretty soprano voice. I did notice she seemed a bit nervous but its understandable. Other than that she was great. Her and Eden have great chemistry already. I actually really LOVED Derrick as Fiyero. I had heard some mixed things but I really do love his take on the character. He made alot out of it. Additionally the ensemble sounded great, the set and costumes looked amazing as always. This show def. doesnt look 3 years old already. Carole Kane wasnt in which was a dissapointment at first, but her new understudy (yes, new) was great! She played the character as young and somewhat sexy and it actually really worked. Beautiful voice I might add. Anyway, the cast were all so sweet after the show! I really enjoyed every second of it. From the sound of the audience, I dont think I am alone :) Great job to all!!!

Posted: 6/15/06 at 10:28amOf course I wasn't there, but I'm assuming if the "new" understudy was on, it could be another performer besides Gaelen . . . I believe Jan is out of the show rehearsing for the Wicked Witch in "The Wizard of Oz" at the MUNY. No clue who it is, though!
