Hey Folks -
I'm treating my older sister to GUTENBERG! tonight (Wednesday, the 21st) and I was wondering if maybe I could garner some feedback from those who have already attended performances. I hear nothing but good things, and with the extended run (thru June 3rd) I have some positive vibes for tonight's show.
Any thoughts I could run with?
Thanks in advance,
- Mike

Yes. By halfway through Act 2, you'll start to feel that you can't laugh anymore because your sides will hurt.
An asbolute gem! (And if Rob Meffe is playing, it'll be even better, since he's a teacher at my school!)
I agree with theatertrash. This show is SO FUNNY. Great cast, great piano player, smart writing. It all works.
... my only complaint was a bit of lagging in the second act, but that's a common problem in theater (which the cast mocks at the top of the act).
Besides that, it's pretty close to perfect. You'll love it.

Not as funny as it thinks it is, but still funnier than most things.

So, it was another lousy Wednesday at work and got out too late to rush. Grumpy and depressed, I head for the Starbucks in Sheridan Square to work on my musical for awhile. I notice the Gutenberg marquee across the street then went about fighting for a table near an outlet. Out of curiosity, I popped onto this board, found this thread and thought, "What the Hell?". Testing's discount code was still good so I ordered a ticket.
I still hurt. I haven't laughed that hard at a show in years. The girl next to me excused herself and went to the ladies room because she had 'peed herself a little'. The two high school boys in front of me dragged there by their mom took their iPOD ear buds out. I ran out of napkins to wipe away the tears. My God.
The energy level was insane, I needed the intermission to collect myself. Thanks to everyone who recommended this show, it's now on my list of Gotta Sees for friends who come to NYC. I mean... wow.
I saw this on Tuesday night, and it was one of the funniest things I have ever seen. Just their facial expressions alone are enough to make you start cracking up. I highly recommend it. Don't go in expecting to see a big musical, it's more of a big joke than anything else. But it's SOOOOO funny.

P.S. David Turner is absolutely amazing. Especially as Monk and the flower girl. Keep and eye out.
