Starring: George C. Scott, Trish Van Devere, Hector Elizondo, Jack Gilford, Jeffrey Tambor, Bob Dishy, Gretchen Wyler....
Based on the 1926 Stefan Zweig adaption of the 1606 Ben Johnson comedy "Volpone." It included an ensemble cast headed by Scott (Patton, Dr. Strangelove). It was directed by Arthur Penn (Bonnie and Clyde, Little Big Man, The Miracle Worker) and written by Larry Gelbart (MASH).
It previewed at the Broadhurst Theater on December 7, 1976. It opened on December 14, 1976. Including previews it ran a total of 505 performances. It was the comedic sensation of the 1976 / 1977 Broadway season.
Every member of the original cast signed it (at the play's 1976/1977 New Years party) for Robert B Mooney, who worked in the show. 22 1/2" X 14 1/2" Framed A
