Good for her! I can't imagine having to live like that.
14 years old and forced into marriage.
That is really upsetting.
My company is based in Dubai and Bangalore.

Where've you been? That's been happening forever.
I know. It is terrible. Everytime I hear something like that it still baffles me.
When I was around 11 years old my Mother took me to Israel for a trip. There was an Arab man sitting on the other side of me.(On the plane)
He told my Mother he thought I was beautiful and asked if he could buy me. It freaked me out. My Mother teased me till I was in my twenties that she kept his number just in case I was bad.
He was serious. Disgusting.
He had a long beard and had to be 35-40. I was 11.
Glad to be living in America.

Now that I've heard your story, Corine...thank goodness I live in America.
That is one happy ending, heaven only knows how many are still trapped in an unwanted "marriage"

That's kinda funny though.. about the teasing.
But congrats to the girl. I'm surprised they let though. I won't be surprised if the other teenage wives revolt against they're husbands.
Might make way for a good play, or movie, or documentary.
It is funny now. I wanted to change seats then.
Glad I was not sold into a harem.

Her husband was only 15!!!!!! That is really gross marrying a 14 year old to a 15 year old and expecting them to live as man and wife. I thought they always picked the husbands much older. At any rate, I think it's sick!!!!!!

Did any of us argue about Wicked, because that's the same thing that happens to Fiyero and his wife Serena..

First off, the Arab guy on the plane sounds effin GORGEOUS. I woulda been all "Bye mom, nice knowing ya. Time for Namo to live in HIGH STYLE!"
LOL, Namo.
I was 11. I was a child. Besides, I was living in a palace at 11.

It sounds so romantic...a stranger on a plane. I suspect Charlotte would have thought so too.
criss cross, double cross. Oh wait. That was the night train to Kathmandu
It was not romantic. It was disgusting.
Imagine a man asking to buy your 11 year old daughter.
I did not think it was funny and my Mother would always bring it up to scare me.
The man 35-40. You people are sick.
Corine, that is awful. I can't imagine any parent saying yes, even in India!!!!!!

Not even if he threw in a new car???
Etoile-
Not funny, Etoile. I was bid on like property.
I am not for sale.
It is not funny and it goes on which makes me sick.
I was reading a few stories about women (girls 11-16) are sold everyday as sex slaves. There was even a bust in NYC.
It was in New York magazine a few months ago.
Sick stuff.
I don't think this is a laughing manner.

Okay, honey. Let's just bury the damn car.

Oh no, that car is here as long as you are Captain.
Corine, you were bid on? There was more than one Arab bidding on you? That is incredibly flattering. Imagine, two guys with all the resources in the world offering them up for YOU!
I thought it was just a flat out offer one guy made. This is very different.
And HOT.

There was a thing in TX a while ago about a vietnamese sex ring being busted. 16 girls were found in the basement of an "upscale Dallas home".
Very sick.
