Yes, he did, but as mentioned previously...it was for APOCOLYPTO. There wasn't any way. No amount of sympathy could have gotten him that statue for the work on that film (I haven't seen the film, but I'm told it shouldn't have even been nominated). All the buzz was going for ANY other film.
This year, it's a possibility. TRANSFORMERS is the type of film that could get it for him.

Or you see Kathy Griffin announce at the press conference, "And the Oscar goes to Kevin O'Connell" and they cut immediately to commercial break.
