I just discovered that the Arclight Cinemas in Hollywood do weekend showings of select movies for audiences age 21 and up. I may have discovered the very thing that could get me going back to the movies more often.
They've already announced showings of KONG in that format - so I know which I'll go to of that movie. PLEASE let them do that with at least one showing of BROKEBACK!
The Arclight Cinemas are without a doubt the ONE thing I prefer about LA.
Please bring them here! Please!
If only the problems with seeing films in NYC could be addressed so easily. Age isn't the deciding factor in rudeness here. I rarely attend films in the theater anymore.
It is the seating that is the huge thing for me, we had one theatre where you could get specific seats in advnce, but they stopped.
I really can't stand fighting through the crowds and trying to find a decent seat.
OMG I loved loved loved the Arclight's 21+ theatre!! Not only is it super great for catching movies that you want to see but don't want to be surrounded by screaming babies/obnoxious teens at (ie: Shrek, Anchorman), but... the theatre also serves alcohol! It doesn't get much better than that- my friends and I would even go see movies we had no interest in if they were playing on the 21+ screen, just because it was actually a good movie going experience for once. I really wish there was a 21+ theatre here in NY.
The best crowd at a 21+ movie ever had to have been the time we saw Metallica: Some Kind of Monster there- Metallica fans, documentary fans, alcohol fans, and no one under 21, now *that* was an awesome movie experience. :)
I'm so lucky to live in PS.....movies are never packed, quite the opposite. Usually they are maybe 10 people........cept for RENT, when it skyrocked to 34
