Hey guys! Forgive me if this is the wrong forum for this, Im new here, but I'm looking for two 32 bar cuts and I don't know where to find them! I need two contrasting 32-bar selections (one ballad and one up-tempo piece). I want to do "Say the Word" from UAoSB, or possibly "The Beauty Is" from LITP. I'm a mezzo, but I have a fairly high soprano range as well. Thanks!

Good (if very popular) choices. I'm a little confused on what the question is though? You buy the sheet music to the whole song and then you count out 32-bars, that is your cut. I happen to know that the last 32-bars of "The Beauty Is" is a perfect cut. I think it's from "Everyone's a mother here..." but I'm not positive. For "Say the Word" it's probably the bridge to the end.

I'm just wondering if these are appropriate contrasting choices, or if I should replace one of them with another song. I feel that they're a bit too similar so I was wondering if there's any other songs that could contrast with one of them. Sorry for the confusion and thanks!

Oh okay I understand. Before I can try to help you more I need to ask, what is this for?

Oops, meant to put this in the description. It's for a class that lasts for a year, basically just a collection of master classes and a showcase at the end. It's not for any show in specific.

Okay! I actually think that they contrast just fine. The neoclassical uptempo and the modern pop ballad. If you were to change one I would exchange "Say the Word" for another pop ballad just because I know that it is one of the most popular "contemporary musical theatre" songs. But other than that I think they both work great. Break a leg!
