and still not the lowest approval rating ever. he's got 12 more points to go to sink to truman's march of '52 25% number. like i said, i am an incurable optimist!

not really. in july it was 37% but dropped to 31% in august, that was in '73. carter's hit 25% too in june of '79.

No president ever dipped lower than Nixon's 24% during Watergate and Truman's 23% during the Korean War, but I have confidence in George W. Bush!

Yes but only 28% think the country's on the right track, so all in all folks seem to agree he's a pretty ****ty president.

According to this poll, the people most disappointed in him are white evagelicals, Southerners, Republican women and conservative men.

"There is a growing, deep-seated discontentment and pessimism about the direction of the country," said Republican strategist Tony Fabrizio, who believes the reasons for their pessimism differ for those in one political party or another.

Among those most likely to have lost confidence about the nation's direction over the past year are white evangelicals, down 30 percentage points since November, Republican women, down 28 points, Southerners, down 26 points, and suburban men, down 20 points.
