From the last paragraph of that article.

"In any case, America has won its war. Our friends among the free Iraqis need our support, but any eventual defeat will not be caused by US intervention but rather by defeatist Democratic-MSM propaganda in the US and by the long-standing factional hatreds among the Iraqis themselves."

Talk about covering all your bases. Too bad no one thought of the long-standing hatreds before they started this debacle.

Look, HD, here's the deal:

If you *seriously* think we should be wasting more time and resources in that sad little war, I'm sure there's a recruiting station somewhere nearby that would love to have you. Dont sit here and pontificate about how grand and glorious this all is: show us. Your country (or at least your vision of it) needs you now more than ever, since enlistments are going down and we're stretched thin as rice paper. So show all of us the error of your ways and get that uniform on. Then send us the occasional note from Baghdad to let us know how it's going.

He can't even admit he's Mark Manley, do you really think he has the cajones, to enlist.

"sad Little War"

That tells us everything we need to know...

no support for the troops
no understanding of the conflict
no comprehension of what we have already won
no knowledge of the truth on the ground in Iraq

in favor of "cut and run"

If Tom DeLay is The Hammer, then I proclaim a new title for the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi: The Briber. Nancy Pelosi had to bribe her members with spinach to get their votes.

Are you talking about George Bush?

no support for the troops: not the right armor, or equipment.

no understanding of the conflict: our enemies enemy is our friend.

no knowledge of the truth on the ground in Iraq: He should ask McCain.

in favor of "cut and run": Yes in 2009 he will leave and Iraq and New Orleans will still be in shambles.

Speaking as a mom of a newly commissioned USAF 2nd Lieutenant.
100% pro troops, 100% against the war.

So, Bush could and should have single-handedly "saved" New Orleans?

Speaking of changing the subject, you did a large leap on that one.

I never said that. He did however lie about knowing the levees could break which he was briefed on earlier that week. He also could have done something to help the people afterward. Instead he did sh!t.

I care more about this military than George Bush ever will and I am 100% against this OIL WAR.

Do you also hold accountable "Lying" Mary Landrieu, the bumbling Kathleen Blanco, and Mayor "chocolate city" Nagin?

If John F. Kennedy could get us to the moon, George W. Bush could have re-built New Orleans.

It's a question of PRIORITIES.

And compassion.

HDT - Stop assuming we are like Republicans. If someone breaks the law, they are not above it because a political standings.

Nothing like blaming the local and state government for the failings on a NATIONAL level. George Bush is DIRECTLY responsible for the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Not Blanco and not Nagin.

Bush literally took a sh!t on his own people.

Oh, I get it, you believe that we have only the federal government to help us out in times of need.

You obviously have never been through a natural disaster. The local people and the state government have the primary responsibility under law and under the constitution.

WOW! You two are out there today.

Katrina was bad. That is as bad as it is ever going to get here (hopefully). No let's say the local government was failing those people, why the HELL didn't the federal government assess the problem and act on it?

Bush fu#ked up. Big Time.

That's fine, but what happens when state and local governments fail us?

I hope you don't mind HD, but I've taken one of your points from the SICKO thread and would like to use it to ask you a question.

"If you love the Cuban, French, Canadian, and Israeli systems so much, go join them."

My question to you, is if you love this war so much, why don't you go to Iraq and join them. Actions always speak louder than words.

Yes, your actions speak very loudly.

Furthermore, having been through a natural disaster of epic proportions, I would much rather have the state and local government in charge.

It is so typical of the liberal elitists to think that a big bloated federal government can solve all of our problems.

"Yes, your actions speak very loudly."

As do yours, all blow and no show. It really was a simple question. You support the war, why not fully support it. You keep saying your a student, so you're obviously old enough to enlist, but not too old to be turned down. Unless, you have a "dirty little secret" you're not sharing. Funny how the simplest of questions that are asked of you, are always the ones that are ignored.

Yes, yes, I'm sure.

PROVE IT, HD. If you seriously think this absurd conflict is worth the time, money, and resources... if you think we have no real understanding of the nature of the conflict... PROVE IT BY GETTING YOUR BUTT IN UNIFORM AND DEFEND THIS COUNTRY FROM ALL THE THREATS YOU SAY WE'RE RISKING.

Otherwise, you're just blowing hot air. All hat and no cattle, as my grandfather in Texas would say. It's easy to sit there and point at us supposedly deluded little minions; do you really have the cajones to do something about it? Or are you just some frightened little mouse who'll let others die so you can sit there and tell us how wrong we are?

Put up or shut up, bud.

It appears Mr Bush has a serious case of denial

I do not view him as satan's son as some on the board do. Having said that, I have seen his gradual mental breakdown to the point where I do not believe he is playing with a full deck as they say.

I know all the arguements & agree with some . I would rather have it succeed but this is not in the cards so it is time to wake up & smell the coffee Mr Bush. A phased withdrawal (leaving a token force )& our continued prescense in Afganistan are the only options now.
