This is SO TRUE!

Oh GOD, is this true. The only way I managed to get out of the "crappy school nurses" thing is that I go to a college with a Medical School and we get doctors and nurses from there.

But, OMG MAIL! It was never so wonderful before college.

I'm a senior in high school... What's the deal with the mail?

re: 50 Things Adimissions never told you about college, and more

The college I go to asks you to check your mailbox once a day, everyday. My first semester is almost over and I will say that I've probably opened my mailbox over 100 times and I've gotten 2 letters.
Seeing an empty mailbox is a sad thing.

re: 50 Things Adimissions never told you about college, and more

the deal with mail is that you're away from home, away from your friends, and you fall into a routine really really quickly.

though it's fun to be in college, you can get really really homesick over the stupidest things, and getting an unpextected letter lets you know that the people at home haven't forgotten about you.

trust me, you'll understand.

re: 50 Things Adimissions never told you about college, and more

Exactly. Your mailbox is YOURS. Most likely, up until now, you've had your family's mailbox. You could check it and bring in the mail with nothing for you. Now, every time you open your mailbox, the stuff will be FOR YOU. And, when it's something personal, it's a reminder that people care.

Hell, I even like getting letters from the school about financial aid or scheduling.

About the mailboxes-I think the excitment wears off, or maybe I'm just bitter cause I never get any mail.At my school, we share our mailboxes with our roommates. My roommate gets much more mail than I do, so I just let her check the mail now. Most of it is junk mail anyways, or when we do get real mail, it's usually for someone we've never heard of. The latest is someone named B. Puff. At least my mailbox is right next to the misdirected mail slot.

re: 50 Things Adimissions never told you about college, and more

Okay...

People throw parties here when we get mail. We have our own post office and we have to walk down this HUGE hill to get to it. So you feel like you're wasting your life away to get mail.

You just get to the point where you buy stuff for cheap on amazon.com so you have something to look forward to and look important! haha =)

So I was sitting in my cubicle today, and I realized, ever since I started working, every single day of my life has been worse than the day before it. So that means that every single day that you see me, that's on the worst day of my life.~Office Space

Yes, crazy idea. I hope that everyone is much safer than that online, there's a lot of wackos out there.
