My guesses for the "deathstakes" for Book 6:
1) Hagrid (I've figured him as an eventual goner for a while now)
2) Snape, but only if he comes back as a ghost in Book 7. (Ghostly Snape stalks into 7th Year Potions Class through the back wall: "So, Potter, you thought you were rid of me!")
3) Lupin - Although she may hold off his Big Showdown with Peter "Silver Hand" Pettigrew until Book 7. I love Lupin, but I think she's going to have to either cure him or kill him, and I'm afraid "kill him" is going to win.
4) Arthur Weasley (Ron's Dad), only because I'm going to be really really upset if she kills him off.

I like it. I think they're looking into a pensieve. Anyone see the cover of the Britsh adult version? Has a picture of "Advanced Potion-Making," by Libatius Borage. Wonder if that's foreshadowing...
One reason why I don't think Lupin will die because of the silver hand, is because JKR clearly had him drinking from a silver goblet in the fifth book. But there is no doubt in my mind that he and Peter will have a confrontation and do battle (dueling or otherwise).
Whens the book coming out?

July. I forget the exact date - it's on Amazon.
If they kill Lupin, I'll be very, very upset. I love him.
I think the last book in the series is: Harry Potter & The Preparation of H
^^
Therese, I agree with you. Especially Lupin or Hagrid.
Just checked amazon and its July 16th. Thanks guys.

Like the cover, but why have the last two been so monochromatic? 'Pheonix' was all blue, this one is green.

I bet she kills off Professor Trelawney. You heard it here first, folks!
Hmmm - I'm going to have to get them all out and re-read them again when the new one comes. I always like to refresh myself with the story before adding new material. (Not that re-reading these is much of a chore. I do love my Harry P.!)
My problem is I always feel the need to read all of the books in order in a really concentrated amount of time, and ever since the fourth book came along, it takes too much time, energy and stamina to plug through them all, even if they're interesting sections (ESPECIALLY if they're the good parts, because then you don't sleep until it's over, and you keep telling yourself, "One more page...Okay, just one more."). I haven't found a good 4 or 5 day block to shut myself in and read all of them again. I've only read the fifth book once.
LOVE all that GREEN!
I think what I like most about these covers is the fact that Harry finally looks, on the covers, like the age he's supposed to be. He's looked about 12 for every other book, and now he looks like a sixteen year old. Small thing but it pleases me, big ol harry potter fan.
And whoever said it...how was the scene of Sirius' death and the aftermath NOT emotional? The whole point is that it sucked and hurt/s Harry, and JK Rowling has already shown us that she isn't just going to write nice to make it happier, she's going to write what really happens in her mind. (e.g. how a lot of people dislike OotP because Harry's moody).
ooooooohhhh
Preeeeettttyyyy
Mr. Roxy, that's brilliant.
And I must say that after my recent studies of melodrama and stock characters, I have come to the following conclusion about PROFESSOR SNAPE...
Snape will not die in book 6. Snape is going to be the "stock" character of the seemingly reformed former bad guy who is doomed because of mistakes from his past. He will be screwed over in book 7. :)
i think i might need to re-read all 5 books... again...
I like the US cover... I never like them right off, and then I do after staring for like thirty seconds. Not sure how or why they have to grow on me like that...
And please, no Snape death!!! I love Snape... (Masochistic? Who, me?)

No one has mentioned anything about the fact that both the US and UK covers show Harry and Dumbledore together. In OotP, Dumbledore wouldn't let himself be around Harry because, you know, of the whole connection with Voldemort thing, and now both of the covers show them together: one, looking at the Pensive (which has definitely become a key plot device since GoF, ooh how I love Pensive scenes! More Marauders! More Marauders!) and one obviously (albeit cheesily) fighting together. Hopefully this means that Harry has been able to master Occulomency (I know I didn't spell that right) or maybe even Legillimency (DEF didn't spell that right)--which would be really cool because then he could read minds mwahaha. Probably wouldn't happen though.
The war has begun, we all know that. And it seems that this time, as opposed to the last, Voldemort will be eager to attack Hogwarts. Now, more than ever before, he is obsessed with Harry and will go to any means to kill him (but obviously will not do that in THIS book).
Okay, long enough. I have such theories I could talk forever!
