77 WABC Music Radio Rewound is on now

For those who remember, and those too young to have experienced it, 77 WABC used to be the source for music in NYC. Today they are playing tapes of the old broadcasts, including commercials. Check it out live or online.

They just played a very funny Mel Brooks commercial for the "Young Frankenstein" film which at the time of the broadcast was "now playing at the Sutton Theatre". At the end of it, Mel says that the film is "in black and white. No offense.".

The ABC talk station in Chicago is doing the same thing- Resurrecting the DJ's for one day. They even brought back the original news & Traffic people to report. In it's heyday, it was the Big 89, WLS Musicradio. The day today started with one of the original "Shock Jocks" Larry Lujack. It was great to hear ol uncle Lar gripe and complain about the crappy music he was being forced to play again.

WABC is playing old tapes of the DJ's. Before CBS killed the oldies station in NY (WCBS FM), they used to have the old WABC DJ's on once a year. It was always good to hear them. Now CBS is the awful JACK FM with no DJ's but WABC still has a Saturday Night Music Show for four hours and they often interview the old DJ's.
