best12--I love that movie! My favorite Dianne Wiest role.
HATED '90s sugary pop (sorry spidey!). Loved Oasis, Blues Traveler, k.d.lang, Blind Melon, STP, Soundgarden, Nirvana and Jane's Addiction. Hated the Dave Matthews Band with a burning passion and I still do. Liked early Pearl Jam though I came to dislike them later. Thought the girls of En Vogue were classy, talented and gorgeous. Admit to liking Alanis and I fell in love with the harmonies of the Indigo Girls and with Sarah McLachlan's beautiful voice, though I was dismissive of most of the whiny, hairy armpit vagina music of the rest of the Lilith Fair set (i.e Fiona Apple, Paula Cole, Natalie Merchant. I like women who rock). I thought Ray of Light was a masterpiece, and The Power of Goodbye became my favorite Madonna song.

Aw, Rath, even though The Power of Goodbye was the theme song for Felicity for the whole first season?

She eyes me like a pisces when I am weak
I've been locked inside your heart-shaped box for weeks
I was drawn into your magnet tar pit trap
I wish I could eat your cancer when you turn black

This is pretty obscure, but does anyone remember EYC (Express Yourself Clearly)?? They were totally my favorite boy band, but they never quite made it. I think it's because there were only 3 members instead of 5 but I LOVED their cd!! I only knew them because Trey Parker (Kid Blink in Newsies) was the lead singer!!

Speaking of pop that was actually good, don't forget George Michael! What a way to start off the decade...
"I think there's something you should know
I think it's time I told you so
There's something deep inside of me
There's someone else I've got to be
Take back your picture in a frame
Take back your singing in the rain
I just hope you understand
Sometimes the clothes do not make the man..."

"All My Life" was one of the anthems at school dances.
Same with

I have issues with "All My Life." I don't understand the lyrics:
"Close to me you're like my mother
Close to me you're like my father
Close to me you're like my sister
Close to me you're like my brother"
I would NEVER compare my girl to my family.

Right, I didn't mention a lot of the one-hit wonder songs...
Bitch, Sunny Came Home, Tubthumping, Roll To Me, Run Around, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Insensitive, All Cried Out, Coco Jamboo, Too Close, Kids of America, No Diggity to name a few.

I thought All Cried Out was Lisa Lisa and it was from the '80s?
Tubthumping was a guilty pleasure of mine, I'll admit it!

"Tubthumping was a guilty pleasure of mine, I'll admit it!"
Sounds like a personal fetish.

Posted: 10/17/06 at 1:16pmSee, I loved Gwen Stefani in NO DOUBT, but hate her solo work. Back then it was about the music . . . now it is about the continuous chorus.

All Cried Out was covered in the 90s by the bands Allure and 112.
Another 90s fav:
and who could forget:
"Shut up! It's been 29 years!!!" --the incomparable Patti LuPone in her MUCH DESERVED Tony acceptance speech for Gypsy.
Kitzy's Avatar du Jour: Kitzy as Little Red Ridinghood in her college's production of "Into the Woods"

Kitzarina- The "Titanic" song and "Honey" are 2 of my biggest guilty pleasures of 1997.
As far as legitimate music, has anyone mentioned "Fumbling Towards Ecstacy" by Sarah McLachlan?
I'm also totally on board with "Ray of Light." Obviously.
It was my Summer '98 jam album.
