Help, I had Tivo'd "A History of Violence" and it stopped right at the ending. How did it end? SPOILER wanted, please!
Where it stopped: Viggo Mortensen knocked off Ed Harris. Viggo then received a phone call from his brother William Hurt. Viggo visits Hurt, Hurt tries to kill Viggo. Viggo kills Hurt's bodyguards. Recording stopped.
Who killed whom? Did Viggo survive? What happened to his family?
Viggo survives and goes home. He walks into the kitchen while the wife and kids are eating dinner. He stands there for a minute, not sure what to do and then the little girl gets a plate off of the counter and sets it down at his place. He sits. The end.
Edit: He kills his brother.
he kills him and goes back to his family. it's uncertain whether they completely accept him.
great effin' movie.

See, Papi, we do have matching tastes in movies.
shameless papa spoiler services - it's all about the end
It's easily one of my favorite endings of a movie. Unsettling, leaving you very curious.
And for more Viggo brilliance, see Eastern Promises.

Also, I think after he kills William Hurt, there is no dialogue for the rest of the film. It's an amazing ending.
