Posted: 11/14/06 at 7:25pmIt's a self indulgent list that makes way left liberals feel good, and fiscal conservatives run for the hills and tax shelters. And yet again, I must point out that the US is not now, and never has been, a democracy.

Posted: 11/14/06 at 8:16pmThe list makes sense and yes it makes me feel good. I was surprised that the few Republicans I sent the list to even admitted there are some valid points, and they did not run for the hills and tax shelters. To each his own I guess.

"universal health care" paid for by "you"? no, paid for by the working taxpayer (that'd be me).
"minimum wage increase" "we'll pay you" -- No, "you" won't. My employer will. Or, if I'm the employer, I'll have to shuffle services, increase costs or fire personnel to pay for the mandated wage increase.
How many more laws could you possibly pass to protect me from the unlawful use of weapons? How about enforcing the ones we have?
As for the rest of it, as I said, feel-good, self-indulgent drivel.

Like I said, to each his own. I didn't mean to strike a nerve Kelzama.I disagree with you and love the list and signed the petition. Do you just not like Michale Moore or are you a Conservative? Oh and yes, I feel DAMN good!
DO you disagree with universal healthcare? Raising the minimum wage? Just asking.
By the way, I love how 2 years ago the Republicans told us that they won because the American people put morals over everything else. Scandal after scandal with the GOP abusing the power they were given. everytime I think of Foley or Hagard I think of those strong moral values that they claim the American people wanted.

Posted: 11/14/06 at 9:51pmI think I won'tbother arguing any more -- I mean, if people are STILL strong in the Conservative views, after everything, there's no way they will be swayed to reason. After all, there's a reason the Conservatives were in power this long anyway...

Posted: 11/14/06 at 11:28pmWe will ALWAYS pay taxes. That's not going away. So, it's really a matter of priorities. I think taking care of this country is important. The money spent on Iraq alone could have accomplished many many many important things that the current Republicans just don't seem to care about.
