I dont' know how many have read the book 'Pride and Prejudice'... but there is a movie about it. It was made in the 1940s, and it is in black and white. But this movie is terrific. I would definitely reccomend it to you.

It has the same name as the book (Pride and Prejudice), and if you have a free moment... borrow it from the theater.

I also liked Emma(the book). I also liked the movies, but the book was way better for me. Still working on Sense and Senseablity.

ahh Colin Firth in P&P! One of my favorites!

"At the opening night party, they had clowns on stilts, jugglers, a chocolate fountain, popcorn, hot dogs. [My son] looked at me like I had been holding back. Like, 'This is what you do?' I had to tell him, 'No, no, darling. Opening nights don't usually look like this.' It's usually a dark bar with a bottle of vodka." ?Chitty Chitty Bang Bang's Jan Maxwell plus i proudly share the title of the shortest member over the age of 10 with wickedrentq!

The 1940's version has Laurence Olivier in his prime as Mr. Darcy.

I just recall seeing it and thinking that the one sister who wore glasses, the one who was supposed to be the "plain" sister, was really cute!

Yea, the "plain" sister was the one who wore the glasses, and played piano and sang... kinda, and also read books. I thought she was really pretty under the glasses, but personally I thought Jane was the prettiest.

Mr. Bingley was a fine specimen also.

Yes, the A&E PRIDE AND PREJUDICE is wonderful. If you liked the book, this mini-series is the most faithful adaptation imaginable. And who can deny the lure of Colin Firth? Not me. **pant pant pant**

Kangaroo- I love this version of P&P as well. Greer Garson is quite good. M-G-M could do no wrong in the early 1940's.

I think the "plain' sister was Marsha Hunt and she was very pretty. Glebb and I just watched her "screen test" for Gone With The Wind (for Melanie). She was a big participant in War Bond drives that Hollywood stars did during WWII.
