A question about e-mail vocabulary

Okay, I admit that I'm not the most computer-lterate person in the world, so I'm asking for some help.

I recently received an e-mail from someone and all it said was "q". Nothing else. It was sent from his blackberry in response to a message I'd sent him.

What does "q" mean? (No, the guy I'm communicating with isn't gay or "queer!)

Sometimes "q" is short for question, but if they just wrote that letter with no content, it may not mean that.

Could the "q" mean that the e-mail was oened and read but not responded to?

on my blackberry, it says "d" if it was opened and read (d for delivered). maybe you have a dyslexic blackberry? lol
