So I was in school on Friday, and I had this HUGE HUGE HUGE discussion with this girl who I never thought liked books, but has great taste in them. So thank you to those of you who actually read, and not books like what Meg Cabot writes (those are fun, but sort of one-night books if you know what I mean). But real, long books from authors like Morgan Lleywelyn, Ken Follet, etc..

Thanks

I'm in the middle of Asimov's "Foundation and Empire" (the second of the orriginal FOUNDATION trilogy). I've already read the trilogy 3 times but I do love it.
I just finnshed Dan Brown's "Digital Fortress".

One of my favorite writers is Neil Gaiman. He's able to be funny and incredibly creepy at the same time. Even his comi books are truly amazing.

That you've even read a book at all is startling Captain Obvious.

Morgan Lleywelyn & Ken Follet? There's a veritable Algonquin Roundtable right there.

And WHAT exactly is wrong with Meg Cabot's books? I highly enjoy them, especially since they're one-night reads. It's a refreshing break, especially if you (well, for me, at least) just finished a long book (and esp. if said book was beaten to death by analyzing it...ugh...)

Books are my escape. I like a great variety of books, but I need to read more non-fiction. It annoys my dad sometimes that the majority of my books are fiction. I'm in the middle of Shakespeare's Scribe and will probably either read The Virgin Blue next(love Tracy Chevalier) or something different. Dont' know yet. One of the best books I've read is In My Hands. A very sad book at times, but really quite extraordinary.

"At the opening night party, they had clowns on stilts, jugglers, a chocolate fountain, popcorn, hot dogs. [My son] looked at me like I had been holding back. Like, 'This is what you do?' I had to tell him, 'No, no, darling. Opening nights don't usually look like this.' It's usually a dark bar with a bottle of vodka." ?Chitty Chitty Bang Bang's Jan Maxwell plus i proudly share the title of the shortest member over the age of 10 with wickedrentq!

When I was 8 years old, I read The Count of Monte Cristo because it was one of the thickest books I could find in my house. It's still one of my favorites.

This week I'm reading "A Room of One's Own" by Virginia Woolf (kind of forgot to do it last week for class...) and beginning "A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man" by James Joyce. Very excited about this one :)

I just finished C.P. Taylor's "Good" (it was), but that's the last bit of non-school reading I'm going to be doing for a while. Okay, back to Con Law...

I love reading, so you're welcome? I just finished "Lysistrata" the other day and I'm now reading "The Clouds" (kind of on an Aristophanes kick...), and I'm re-reading "1984."
