SO...play "what if" a moment. You're Joe Biden and a man gets up in the audience and says "Day-um, I am SO glad Obama chose you instead of Clinton!"
What do you say?
A) Oh yeah me too- what a bitch, huh?
B) Uhhhhh...Did anyone see "Deal or No Deal" Last night?
c) I don't know, she would have been a GREAT choice! Maybe better than me! Gosh I love that woman! What a mind! What a great VP she'd have been! Or even President, etc. etc.
Can any of you "OMG HE HAS TO STEP DOWN" kids come up with a response better than what he said?

Posted: 9/11/08 at 9:13amI don't think he should have stepped down, but let's face it the man can't think on his feet (i.e. telling a wheelchair bound man to stand up). The Obama team should not let Joe Biden handle campaign events by himself. He should be tied to Obama's hip until election day.

It won't happen, because that would mean that Obama would have to admit his decision was a very poor one.
Hopefully Biden will now start being a good VP candidate because so far , he hasn't been. Obama has had to direct most of his attention to attacks which should be Biden's responsibility.
It looks like Obama has made the same mistake that Hillary made at the start of her primary race. His campaign has a air of "rendezvous with destiny". That he WILL be the winner. Consequently , because of pure ego, he has made bad decisions and McCain has not only caught up with him in the polls but has gotten ahead. What should be an easy victory is turning into anything but. The sad thing is that Hillary warned that this would happen. She said if he was the nominee, because of his inexperience, at the first sign of attack he would falter and then start blustering and the McCain camp would use it to get ahead.
Guess what happened.
Obama needs to smarten up or we will really have President McCain and VP Trailer Trash.

Posted: 9/11/08 at 10:21amIsn't the Hillary talk moot, as she did not want the position of VP? I could be imagining it, but I heard that reported somewhere. It could have come out of the Obama camp, though; I don't know if there was confirmation or acknowledgment of this by Clinton herself. But really...if she didn't want it, then why would what Sen. Biden said matter?

I think what's so surprising is that Biden's reply was an honest one.
There was no spin. He defended Clinton, he spoke the absolute truth,(she would have been an excellent choice) and he was humble in saying that she might have even been a better choice than him. How many politicians would ever admit that someone else might be better or equal to them. That's unheard of even though it's true.
I'm guessing you're not gonna hear that kind of straight talk coming from the "Straight Talk Express". So far, the only talk we've been getting from Palin, is her acceptance speech, being recycled...I can't wait to hear her in a non-scripted environment.

thankfully the story seems to have died... no one is really talking about it.
and i dont think Biden was a "poor choice" at all. Just because he's not HC doesnt mean he was a bad choice. And I still say HC ruined it for herself with how negative her campaign got.
Half the amunition the republicans are using against Obama now came from her campaign.
lets just drop the whole HC thing and move on please... seriously folks... its old already.

Should we give Hillary a call and tell her she can cancel all of her campaigning for Obama?

what does her campaigning for obama have to do with all the "HC should have been VP" talk?
that kind of talk makes it hard to keep the party unified... which is exactly what HC is trying to do by campaigning for BO.
you make no sense.

Posted: 9/11/08 at 10:41amRead this in the Times today, and instantly pictured a PalJoey thread on the topic, and a voila. Great discussion, great points, but the real news is the Bill will head out next week with Obama. And remember, it's all about the states in play, not national polls. And Obama is UP in Ohio -- 49 - 43, a far better barometer of where things are headed than iterpreting as tea leaves these comments by Biden, designed to give true "deference and respect" to someone who deserves it, as opposed to a VP candidate who does not remotely.

"what does her campaigning for obama have to do with all the "HC should have been VP" talk?"
Because...as long as Hillary is campaigning...the VP talk is not going to go away, she's going to be compared with Palin every step of the way...and even more so if she's out on the campaign trail for Obama. You may as well face that fact, it isn't going to go away.

"jrb, nobody thought Palin was stepping down. Except you with your sick fantasies. Palin will become the first female Vice President. "
You are right, goth. There weren't discussions on this board and around the internet about the possibility. There wasn't online betting about her stepping down.
It was all me. All by myself. God, I'm still exhausted from orchestrating all of that by myself.
And, no, she won't. Because they are not going to win.
She may well become the first female VP candidate to end up in jail...
