Hey folks... I hate to be that girl that comes on BWW and asks for your hard earned money, but it's a good cause, so here goes...
I am participating in AIDS Walk New York 2008 on May 18th. This walk means a great deal to me for a couple of reasons. My dad's cousin died of AIDS when I was 16. There were hushed whispers at his funeral about the "cancer" he died of. It wasn't until I met his lover that I knew the truth. He wasn't allowed to come to the house after the funeral. We weren't even allowed to discuss him or suggest that he should be included. The stigma of the disease was something that left a lasting impression on me. Thank God things have gotten better. I have three friends back home that are living with HIV, one of which is my cousin's former lover. Thanks to great medications, I can happily say they are all very healthy. When I was in Tennessee, I was very involved with activities and fundraising. This is the first opportunity I have had since moving up here to get involved.
Now the fun part... Please consider sponsoring me on the walk. I have a little site set up to take donations. It only accepts donations over $25, but I can take smaller donations through PayPay. Instructions for both are on the site.
Thank you so much for reading this and considering helping out.
I apologize in advance for the bumping of this that I plan on doing in the next few weeks.
