AIM: Linking screen names

When you link screen names on AIM, does anyone know if you can be away on one and active on the other? I'm about to register a new screen name, and want to put an autoresponse on my old one for people to use the new one, but still be active on the new one. I also keep hearing about this "dead AIM" thing. What's that?

Dead AIM is (I think) like AIM Express. You can't be away on one and there on the other.

Deadaim is an aim add-on. It's biggest bonus is that is logs/records all your Aim conversations.

I have Dead Aim.. it's fabulous.. It allows you to "clone" which menas m`log onto to other sn's at the same time. It puts all your conversations in one tabbed window instead of having a million windows all over the screen. And yes you can be logged into one sn, and be away while active on another..

I dont know much about linking sn's through aim, I read something a while back, but didn't care much cuz I LOVE my dead aim..

i am 99.9% sure that you cannot be away on one sn and active on the other while linking screen names. I do know that you can do that on dead aim =]

I use AIM+, I think its similiar to Dead AIM. You log in on AIM, just like you would normally, then start AIM+. It clones AIM, and allows you to sign in as if you weren't signed in on the other one. The two are completely independant of each other. I highly recommend the program!

I have the two linked right now, and I can NOT be away on one and active on the other. It seems like this AIM + thing is what I need, timote. How do I get that? And, once I've fully switched to the new one, can I get rid of it or stop using it?

The two are fully independant. So, you can do whatever you want with them, sign one off, sign both off, go away on one, go invisible on one, whatever. It also logs all your conversations, all though I haven't tried that feature. Check out the site below, you can download it from there.

bummer.. I will just have to stick with dead aim then.. I can't stand a million different conversation windows taking up my whole screen..
