Janet is a rock star in the Southwest, and wildly popular in Arizona. She has been considered (very seriously I heard from her closest adviser and my former boss by Kerry after McCain turned him down...yes, he made a huge mistake not selecting her) VP candidate for 2000 and 2004 Democratic tickets. You know what's odd -- a couple weeks ago the political director of the ADP left to managed the AZ field office for Clinton.
For the record, Janet is the odds on favorite to grab McCain's Senate seat in 2010, she has been one of Ellen Malcolm's favorite candidates since she first ran in 2002. She is very popular among her fellow Governors from both parties -- she in fact was so popular the AZ GOP decided to pass on the last election...the only candidates that ran were purely sacrificial lambs because they could not bring her approval rating below 60% which she has continued to maintain since about a year and a half into her first term .
All the buzz here for months have been that she was going to throw her support behind Clinton....this is downright shocking. Wow. I have to make a phone call to an old friend of mine and find out what the heck happened.
