Hello All-
This past Wednesday, I saw a show billed as Abba: The Music at Atlanta's Chastain Park. It actually turned out to be a band called "Waterloo" - probably the best cover band I've ever seen. They are from Sweden and look and sound just like Abba in its prime. If I didn't know better, I's swear that I'd been transported back to the 1970s and I was looking at and hearing Agnetha, Frida, Bennie, and Bjorn in the flesh. Yes, they were that good! Waterloo had Abba's original saxophone player with them and their original drummer. The rest of their band was great ---and they were backed up by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra!
Anyway, the story of Abba was told through song beginning with the first song "Waterloo" until the last encore "Thank You For the Music". All the big Abba hits were in the set list including "Knowing Me, Knowing You", "Voulez Vous", "SOS", "Fernando", "I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do", "Chiquitita", "Money, Money, Money", "Mamma Mia", "Take a Chance on Me" and "Dancing Queen". Yes, there were one or two dancing queens at the concert - some of whom sang loudly to "Gimme, Gimme, Gimme a Man After Midnight" and "Does Your Mother Know" during the encores. I bet many of our BroadwayWorld members would like this show.If it comes to your town -and you're in the mood for a flashback - check it out.
