I remember a year or more so ago broadway.com had its own message board. I'm just curious, does anyone know why it doesn't exist anymore? Or does it?
Hmm...do you think there would be an article about it in the archives? I'll look it up...I remember there being a message board but I stopped using it and when I went on a year later it was gone!
This is what I found from the archives, Stage Notes 5/13/03:
WE GOT THE MESSAGE
I've had mixed feelings about the message boards on Broadway.com over the past year, watching thousands of theater fans argue over shows, performers and gossip. Too often, it seems that when you allow something like this to live and breathe in the hands of users, it becomes overrun with personal attacks and so-called "shills" (people promoting a production because they're on the payroll). On the flip side, when you monitor something like this too heavily, it's just plain dull. To make a long story short, we're taking them down in the coming days--at least until we can find a better alternative. I'm not saying that I don't think it's right to voice your opinion about a show (I've got a big mouth myself). Just do it somewhere else!
In other words, Paul Wontorek didn't want other kids playing in his sandbox.

Thanks NYCBabe for the reasearch!
To a certain degree, I guess they didn't want to be affiliated with negaitive comments of shows, eps. when they do sell tickets to the shows!! But it was an interesting board, much like broadwayworld.com!!
Anyone of you purchase tickets from broadway.com? I'm asking because I tried once and I found it quite difficult. I don't think you have the ability to pick your own seat. I think you just specify the seating area (balcony, orch, mezz) and they pick your seats. Am I wrong?
I don't bother trying to get tickets at Broadway.com because it's always unclear where you're really sitting. I haven't tried in a long time so I'm a little fuzzy on the details, but I believe that you have a choice from different sections of the theater (center orch., front mezz., etc) and that's all it tells you.
Their service fees are too high. I never purchase tickets from them.

Could someone recommend a reasonable online tickets website for broadway shows? I know the best thing is to go to the window, but with this weather I'll pass on that for now!
