Above the line/below the line ( theater term) explaination
Above the line/below the line ( theater term) explaination#0

I am working on an event project and the subject of hiring "above the line and below the line" people for the event is being discussed. I have looked into to this and keep getting various opinions of what these two categories include.
" Above the line: the actors, creative team brought in for a specific event. Below the line: the stage crew (lighting, sound) and regular staff that handles logistics."
Does this sound correct? or is it a classifaction of levels of actors. (I would not want to be considered a "below the line" perfromer). Anyone with more accurate information? Thanks!
