I just discovered this morning that I may have an opportunity to be a part of a new theatre company in Charlotte, NC as both an employee and an actor (SO EXCITED!) The gentleman doing this wants me to send in a resume for a position within the company, but I have never written a resume for this type of postition before. What is the setup like and what should I include? One of the greatest things about this opportunity is that he is well known in the business and some of his "people" have gone onto to Broadway, Off-Broadway, TV, and movies. The kid that plays Malcolm in "Malcolm in the Middle" and the girl that played Donna in "That 70's Show" were all a part of his company and he takes his actors and employees to NYC numerous times every year for auditions and such (so, if I get the job I can finally meet some of you lovely people).
God, I am pratically screaming . . . I am so excited.
No clue about the Resume, but congrats! That is awesome!!!
Thanks so much, Holly. Now, I don't have the job yet . . . he just said for me to send in a resume. I really hope I get it.
1. Get the book "Idiots Guide to the Perfect Resume" - it's a terrific primer and very informative.
2. DON'T LIE! Lies are always found out on resumes.
3. SPELL CHECK!!!!! Bad spelling and grammar give signs of disinterest.
Best of luck!
I am bored, so I will tell the story of how this has happened. You can skip this post if you want.
As some of you know, I was a part of an annual Christmas event in my hometown called "The Singing Christmas Tree." In it, I had a solo/duet which was recorded. I ripped the audio off of the recording and sent it to my parents for them to have (I am trying to get it up on my myspace music page if you want to have a listen). My mom then let some of her friends here it and one of them has a grandfather who is best friends with the guy that wants me to interview. The girl than made a cd for herself because she said she liked it so much and let her grandfather listen to it (who loved it too) and passed on information about me to that guy that ownes the theatre company. I don't think he has heard the song yet, but wants to speak to me due to that girl's glowing review of my song.
Should I send it a copy of me singing the song or send him a cd of some songs that I have already recorded? Or send him a video of me performing in "Taming of the Shrew?"

Thanks so much, Erika.
Check out mine for one way to do it.
The only thing not on that page that is on my resume is my voice mail number, email address, and web site address.
