Here's a question for anyone who may know...
We all know that there's a difference between "commuting" miles as far as the IRS goes and "business" miles...
Here's my problem. I have detailed records of all my work-related travel this past year - but literally every job that I have had this past year has been as a professional actor. I had a five-day-a-week Equity contract at a place of business some 30 miles away. Would this be considered commuting, or business related? It's all for acting gigs.

it's commuting as you are commuting to your job, not traveling on business
According to the Equity Handbook (which is a reference for industry standards whether or not you are Equity), in town you can only count travel to find work. out of town, you can write off transportation. It's vague. And a detailed record is indeed necessary.
If you itemize, I would seek assistance from Equity if you are Equity or a good accountant otherwise. I wouldn't trust Turbo Tax or the like unless you are very well read on taxes and what is safe to claim.
