Actors appearing in their own remakes

I just saw Holiday Inn on TV with Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire, and was always intrigued that he remade it years later with Danny Kaye in White Christmas.

I was trying to think of other actors who were involved with their own remakes, and I could only think of Sean Connery who did Thunderball, and then the remake called Never Say Never Again.

Are there any other examples?

White Christmas is not really a remake of Holiday Inn. It was just an excuse to use the title song that was such a hit for Bing years earlier to help boost his waning career and make a few bucks. It helped for a bit, but then moved into TV where his Christmas specials aired for years. But White Christmas and Holiday Inn are entirely different films.

PEACE.

Not the same thing, but David Soul and Paul Michael Glaser did a cameo in the movie version of STASKY AND HUTCH.

It would have been nice to see Gene Wilder and Kenneth Mars in cameos in THE PRODUCERS, but, no.

She's playing a different role, but Carol Burnett in ONCE UPON A MATTRESS comes to mind.

This doesn't exactly count, but didn't Chita Rivera have a cameo in Chicago?

Carol did do a remake of her own role in this same piece. This is the 3rd version.

And enjoy the beauty - all the joy and beauty - that a Merry Christmas can bring to you!

In 1943, Betty Grable starred with George Montgomery, Ceasar Romero and Phil Silvers in the musical CONEY ISLAND about two rival side show operators fighting over the same girl in Coney Island c. 1890. She re-made the film (with a new score and racier screenplay) in 1950 as WABASH AVENUE, where Victor Mature and Phil Harris played rival Chicago side-show operators c. 1893.
