I got a credit card statement yesterday from a credit card in which I have not charged anything to in MONTHS. It was for a $12.95 charge by Yahoo! for a website domain name.

I did a WHOIS search on the domain name and sure enough, it said that I was the owner and listed my name and address.

I called Yahoo! Billing and after waiting an hour, I finally got someone on the phone and we established that it was indeed credit card fraud and they apologized and refunded the fee to my account.

I then called my credit card company (Citibank) and was never put on hold and got someone immiediately. I told them that I already spoke with Yahoo! and that I needed to be reissued a new account number/card.

It was a quick and painless process, it could have been worse. But what I do not understand is HOW someone could have gotten my information! My credit card is in a desk drawer in my parents' home. There's no way anyone could have gotten it. And then how in the world would they know my address?

S-c-a-r-y!

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."
