On the other hand, the WTC PATH station is the umpteen-billion dollar concrete porcupine (hedgehog???) designed by Spanish super-star Santiago Calatrava. Even in its incomplete state, it's pretty cool.
All of which is to say that if--after flying across the country and negotiating your way into NYC--you're in the mood for some quick Archi-tourism, you could grab the PATH train at Newark Penn Station, go to the WTC, check out the Calatrava and then hop on the 2/3 to the UWS.
Easy-peasy...

Sorry, DAME--our messages crossed.
You'll never get an argument from me against ponying up a few extra $$ to eliminate stress.
Collapse in the back seat, close your eyes, and let the driver worry about the traffic.

You just need to check their schedule when the last bus leaves the airport. As far as getting to upper west side, I would get off at Port Authority, walk across the street to 42 street station and take the 1 uptown. I'm not a New Yorker, so there maybe a more specific train that goes to your upper westside destination. But that's the one I take when I go to upper westside.
