re: Amish in the City

Amish boys are very hot. They work all day on the farm and come into the city needing to be taught everything. VERY HOT

re: Amish in the City

i really heart this show. i'm gonna say hot. but that one amish guy, randy, just needs to shut his mouth and look cute.

cows are from outer space. remember that.
There are some people in the world who say that writing stories, or composing music or dancing sparkly dances is easy for them. Nothing interferes with their ability to create. While I celebrate their creative freedom, a little part of me just wants to punch those motherf*ckers in the teeth...[tos]

re: Amish in the City

But what about the Amish chicks leaving their dirty panties all over the house?

And why do the Amish kids talk so weird like they're from Sweden or something? Freaky.

re: Amish in the City

I'm loving this show. Partly because I once lived near the Amish in PA. As a matter of fact, the bed I sleep in is an Amish bed my parents picked up at an auction in Intercourse, PA. I wanted the bed from the auction in Bird in Hand, PA, but lost the battle. By the by, Z, the Amish kids are speaking Pennsylvania Dutch, ya know.

re: Amish in the City

I am wondering if maybe next year they'll take a bunch of city kids and drop them in Amish country.
Man talk about a rude awakening!

re: Amish in the City

The guys rockin' down to hip-hop was kinda endearing. What about the Amish guy who thought "Ray Gay" was a singer not a type of music.

re: Amish in the City

The Amish tradition of Rumspring (running around)generally starts when the youths are around 16 and can last for a few years. While they are making up their minds if they truely want to be Amish.
During this time the teens can go out with friends, wear jeans, get drunk. Since they have not yet been baptized into the Amish faith, it isn't a sin.
Hope this helps.

re: Amish in the City

The site I was at stated that it could last "a few years" so if the "youth leaves at 16 he or she may not return until they are 22. I guess it depends on the person who is trying to make that important decision.

re: Amish in the City

I'm really in to the show right now. Last weeke when they went to the beach for the first time, tears. They brought a little toomuch predictable drama this week, but I am still a fan. I definitely feel more drawn to the Amish kids - the city kids are a motley crew.

I especially loved Mose's comment after the church service about how it was too much about the money. From the mouth's of Amish babes.

re: Amish in the City

Well, I love the show too. I hate to admit that since I rarely watch the reality stuff...but give me this, BB, and American Idol and I'll be fine.

As for the city kids...I would LOVE to see them on an Amish farm. The other day's episode with the LA Equestrian Center was just really sad.

One of my favorite parts was listening to Mose read his Bible. (That was one of my favorite parts of the movie Witness...just to see how much of it could understand after taking German for 3 years.)

I cried when they were at the beach too. So sweet when you realize that seeing the things we take for granted mean so much to these kids.

Randi...not sure what to say about him. Nice to look at yes...but well...I'll stop there! :)

I brougt that up a wee bit earlier PigletH. I think theses city kids would be amazed at how easy they really have it.

The City kids would starve to death on a farm I think.

re: Amish in the City

The city kids would drop a curse word and most likely be shunned.
Once while traveling with some friends our car died. Right in the heart of Lancaster County, it was Sunday and an extremly kind family took us in for the night (Since no work can be done on Sunday, hooking up the horses would be a no-no)
This family was so kind to us "English". Sarah the mother even packed us a lunch for our 8 hour drive.
