Death is inevitable and the silver lining is that the coverage of her passing will inspire people to pick up an Anita O'Day CD and listen to her for the first time. If Anita O'Day Sings Cole Porter is still around, grab that one first-- it's d'lovely!

I guess it was for $$ but she was put back onstage by a greedy promoter -- and she often looked so dazed she didn't seem to know where she was and she sang her hits from ENORMOUS cue cards held about 2 feet from the stage. I saw her at the Bluenote about 2 years ago - she had the early show and the fab karrin alyson was on the prime spot. It was really sad. but I loved loved loved her in the day....
