So in order to fix the NYC subway mess, Governor Patterson decides to tax everyone in sight. Problem is that now counties to the North of NYC are considering pulling out of Metro North Train because they don't want to be taxed. So this could kill commuters and tourists coming into the city.

for someone up north who doesn't take the metro-north, i could see being upset about the $.34 tax on every $100 made. but, i think that the 30% increase in fares would have done quite a bit more to destroy the mta and tourism. these counties have a reasonable argument and the deal to have their share knocked down to $.25 due to their lower representative usage and the fewer services offered maybe should have gotten done. it didn't. if the people of those counties really want change, then they can always vote the bastards out and vote new beastrads in and see what they get.
