re: Any Bjork Fans?

Bjork rules!!!!!!!!!! Love me some Bjork (although her last album is my least favorite...Vespertine being my 1st, followed by SelmaSongs)
"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

re: Any Bjork Fans?

She has said that she will never act again, thanks to that prick...what's his name? The one who always victimizes his women in films...the one who got Bjork so emotionally upset (they didn't get along during the shoot)...

However, "It's Oh So Quiet" is one of her best videos. As is "Bachelorette"...Oh, and "Hyperballad".

Lars von Trier. He has run-ins with all of his leading ladies. Don't think it's all his fault though. Catherine Deneuve said that Bjork cannot act, she just is. So, she put herself in that emotionally scarring position.

re: Any Bjork Fans?

Well, Bjork may not be an actor, but she struck gold in DANCER IN THE DARK.

I actually love her last album. She fascinates me--she's really smart about music. She's genius.

re: Any Bjork Fans?

Love,
The most recent one is nothing compared to Homogenic...

It's not like her other stuff. It's even more acquired than her regular creations...

Personally, I can't understand why her newest album got great reviews. I really do love Bjork, but was extremely unimpressed with this one. I got the cd for my birthday last year, and skimmed through it once, unlike Vespertine, that I listened to over and over...
Hopefully, her next album will be better.

re: Any Bjork Fans?

Her popularity completely mystifies me. She can not sing. She can not stay on tune. Her voice is grating. She shrieks & yelps and makes noises that sound like they are boiling up from the mouth of hell. She's the only "vocalist" that I've ever heard that makes me long for the soothing, dulcet tones of Yoko Ono.

To each his own I expect.

re: Any Bjork Fans?

Well, Joe, we all have opinions, yet, it is unfortunate that you cannot see past yours to know that she is a musical genius. What she did with Dancer in the Dark by turning sound effects into music is pure prodigy. She also understands sound, and knows how to manipulate it by the many means, be it voice, instrument, or even computer.
As for the 'popularity' statement - she's not as popular as you think. She's actually more "Underground", which is better for her, because the mainstream can't seem to grasp her musical taste, or her very clever and very deep lyrics. i thank god she is no pop princess who sings a different song to the same tedious beat.
But, all in all, you don't HAVE to listen to her, now, do you?

re: Any Bjork Fans?

I know some die hard Bjork fans who are not loving her new album though.
Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

re: Any Bjork Fans?

Love the music, hate the voice. I would love to listen to a CD of singers performing her music rather than listen to her weird baby-talk sing thing that she does. I know its her "signature", but it makes me want to leap from a water tower.
