I'm currently attempting to pick it up. I have not been successful but I am willing to practice on it.

Try ultimate-guitar.com, learn to read tabs if don't know how yet. You can learn some of your favorite songs while getting a natural feel for strumming, picking, finger picking etc...Also look for the "lessons" section and the section marked UG.tv they've got some videos to help beginners, more experienced players and shredders (metal music, if you're into that sort of thing) I hope this helps and good luck!!!
